12537.   Burgess Anchovy Paste, Complete With Base.  3 1/2 inches in diameter Anchovy Paste pot Lid. Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) "Burgess's Genuine Anchovy Paste for Toast Biscuits &C. By Appointment Hythe Road Willesden N.W. Late 107 Strand London" around a large Royal Coat of Arms pictorial. Common Lid but has a very nice pictorial.   In near mint condition, just has very light scratches to the top of the lid.   (Left of Picture).  $36.     

12525.   Woods Areca Nut Toothpaste, Complete With Base.  Just over 2 1/2 inches in diameter tooth paste pot lid.  Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) "Woods Areca Nut 6d Toothpaste for removing Tartar and Whitening the Teeth without injuring the Enamel. Proprietor W. Woods Chemist Plymouth".  Probably one of England's most popular toothpaste's in Victorian and Edwardian times.  In near mint condition, just has a couple very light scratches to the top of the lid. (Right of Picture). $36.    

PL#5.   Isle of Man "Button" Lid.  Small 1 3/4 inch in diameter pot lid, which instead of a pottery base sat on a small glass pot held in place by a cork ring.   Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) "Greensill & Son Douglas Isle Of Man".  Probably contained toothpaste from a small local chemist.  First one we have ever seen.  In excellent condition, just has a small hairline crack on the flange,l ight natural crazing on the side and a few tiny nibbles on the flange edge.   (Top right of Picture). $39.   

PL#6.   Boots "Button" Lid.  Small 1 3/4 inches in diameter pot lid.   Which instead of a pottery base sat on a small clearglass pot held in place with a cork Ring.  Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) "Boots Cash Chemists".   Quite crudely made and probably contained toothpaste.  In excellent condition, just has a just visible glazing flake off the face and some shrinkage cracks on the unglazed inside.  (Not unusual for a crude Lid.) PL#7.   S. Maw & Sons White Cherry Toothpaste Lid.  Nearly 3 inches in diameter. Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, "S. Maw & Sons. White Cherry Toothpaste for cleaning and preserving the teeth and gums.  Aldersgate Street, London, England." The middle of the lid contains the Maw's Trademark.  Excellent condition, has a small shallow chip on the inner edge of the flange, a few tiny fleabite nibbles on the edge of the face and patchy natural glaze crazing. PL#8.   Holloways Ointment Pot.   1 1/2 inches tall and nearly 2 inches in diameter.  Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, "Holloway's Ointment, for the cure of Gout and Rheumatism Manufactured only by the proprietor" to the left of woman sitting on a throne.  "Inveterate ulcers, Sore Breasts, Sore Heads, Bad Legs. 1/1 1/2., 2/9, 4/6, 11/., 22/., 33/. Pr Pot, 533 Oxford St. London." To the right of the woman. In mint condition.  (Right of Picture). $48   

PL#9    S. Maw Carbolic Toothpaste Lid.   Almost 2 3/4 inches in diameter. This lid is underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, "White carbolic toothpaste for cleansing and preserving the teeth and gums" around the S. Maw Trademark, underneath this "S. Maw & Sons, Aldersgate Street, London, England."  Excellent condition, a couple of tiny glazing nibbles, a scrape along the side of the flange and natural glaze crazing. Complete with base which has a couple of chips on the inner rim,a few tiny nibbles and natural glaze crazing.  (Right of Picture.)   $85.  

PL#10    Clarkes Miraculous Salve Pot.   Nearly 1 1/2 inches tall with a diameter of 2 inches, this Clarkes Salve Pot is underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, in a decorative rectangle "Clarkes miraculous salve for the cure of Ulcerated Bad Legs, Boils, Abscesses, Fistulas, Bad Breasts & Gatherings of all kinds.  Price 1/11/2   2/9 & 4/6 Per Pot, prepared only by the proprietors.  The Lincoln & Midland Counties Drug Co. Lincoln".  In excellent condition, a small glazing flake and a small rust stain on the base.  (Right of Picture.)  $32.  

PL#11   "Danson's" Eye Salve Pot Lid.  Small lid, just over 1 1/2 inches in diameter.    Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black "Danson's Eye Salve" around a pictorial eye. "Sold in pots at 1/1 1/2 each, The Original And Only Genuine, Prepared by R. L. Pickup, 81 Piccadilly, Manchester. Near mint condition with just light natural glaze crazing. (Left of Picture.)  $59.  

PL#12   "Calvert's" Carbolic Toothpaste Pot Lid. Nearly 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black within a decorative circle, "Calvert's Carbolic Tooth Paste"  Around a circular trade mark "Trade mark, Sixpence."  In excellent condition, has a tiny nibble on the edge of the flange, a few tiny scratches and natural glaze crazing. (Middle of Picture.)  $36.  

PL#13   "Maw's" Indian Betel Tooth Paste Pot Lid.  2 1/2 inches in diameter.   Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black "Maw's Indian Betel Nut or Areca Tooth Paste".  Around the circular Maw's trade mark "Unequalled for its salutary effects on the Teeth and Gums"  Below this,   "S. Maw.Son & Sons, Aldersgate Street, London England."  In excellent condition.   Has some light scratches across the face, a tiny blow hole on the bottom of the flange and natural glaze crazing.  (Right of Picture.)    $65.    

PL#14   "F. S. Cleaver's" Areca Nut Tooth Paste Lid.  2 3/4 inches in diameter. Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, within the outside ring, "No Artificial Colouring Matter Of Any Description Is Used."  Within the ring is "Price 6d, F.S. Cleaver's Areca Nut Tooth Paste.  Possesses  the well known purifying and astringent properties of the Areca Nut and removes all tartar from The Teeth."  In excellent condition, has three tiny chips off the lower edge of the flange, a light stain from one of the chips. Comes complete with matching impressed FSC base which has a chip off the side of the base and a long shallow chip off the inner rim. $75.   

PL#15   "S.Maw, Son & Sons" Cherry Tooth Paste Lid.  2 1/2 inches in diameter.  Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black, "S. Maw, Son & Sons Cherry Tooth Paste" around the Maws trade mark. "For Cleaning & Preserving The Teeth And Gums. Aldersgate Street, London, England.  In excellent condition with a few tiny fleabite nibbles on the edge of the flange and natural glaze crazing. Comes complete with base which has a couple of tiny glaze flakes and natural glaze crazing. $69.     

PL#16  "F. S. Cleaver" Saponaceous Tooth Powder Lid.  3 1/2 inches in diameter. Underglaze transfer printed (stencilled) in black within a decorative ring, "Saponaceous Tooth Powder, Prepared From Pure White Soap, As Recommended By Dr. Bowditch, Being The Only Dentifrice Calculated To Preserve And Thoroughly Cleanse The Teeth, Rendered Agreeable For Use & Delicately Scented By F. S. Cleaver, 32 & 33 Red Lion Street Holborn London."  In excellent condition with some staining around the flange,a small fault on the face and natural glaze crazing.  (Middle of Picture.)  $59.
